  • My own makeup trial

Ahhhhhh!!!  I have to do my own makeup for the engagement pictures!!!!!!

Why am I pancking?  Oh yeah, because I don’t know how to apply makeup.  I learned a little from my friends during my clubbing days, but usually I just let them put it on me.  For day to day (when I used to wear makeup to work), I just put on a little powder, eyeliner, mascara and a little blush.  I am seriously lacking skills in the makeup department.

However, since I must do my own makeup, and since I just bought all this makeup from MAC, I thought I would play around a bit.  Because of my love for blogging (and you readers!) I must have taken about 100 pictures of my own face in order to get the lighting right.  It kept coming out too orange or too bright and my digital camera has so many settings.  This is what you get for buying fancy gadgets.

Please ignore my facial expression.  I got tired of smiling.

Aside from my facial expression, does it look horrible?

  • My wedding band is here!!!!!!!!

I know I posted pics of it last time, but that was not a good picture.  With some help from Miss Blueberry’s post, I was able to take a couple of decent pictures of the band.   Without further ado…..*drum rolllllll*

    ring no flash
    Without flash

    ring w flash
    With flash

3 Marquis diamonds, adorned with 6 round diamonds on top and bottom for a total of 0.5 carats.  The color and clarity are very close to my e-ring.  My e-ring is an F, VS2 and I believe this is an F/G, VS1/VS2?

Unfortunately, my e-ring really doesn’t allow for me to wear two bands on one hand.  I mean, I guess technically you could, but I haven’t found a single wedding band that actually looks good with my e-ring.

     e-ring front    e-ring side

Like Miss Spider before me, I had contemplated the U-shaped band.  I have seen a few people with the U-shaped band, and I think it looks wonderful on them.  However, it just doesn’t go with my e-ring.

So I will be wearing them on separate hands:  E-ring on my right, and the wedding band on my left.

How will you be wearing your rings?

  • AC Update

I just received my favorite picture from my bachelorette party!

We spent quite a few hours at the beach that day.  Even though it was pretty cloudy, it was beautiful on the beach.  My friends also rock.  While I was sitting with Mrs. Bee, they made this for me on the sand.  Names have been blotted out, but don’t you love my pose?

    beach1

Yup.  I am a peace sign dork.  There will be many, many pictures of me doing the peace sign at my wedding.

Oh, and for those of you who wanted to know what my makeup looked like the first trial without the orange lighting…..

Seriously, Ms. Snail’s got rock-star skills with the makeup!

  • Make Up Trial #2

I love Ms. Snail.  She is amazingly talented.

This past Sunday, she came over to my house at 10:30am to do another trial for me.  Last time, I loved the makeup, but I wasn’t crazy about the lashes.  Plus, it was more suited for night time, since we were going to AC to party! Which we ended up not doing, because we’re all getting older and we can’t hang.

This time, she brought over shorter, more natural looking lashes, and she wanted to try a different color palette.  And this time, the makeup was geared for daytime, especially for my pictures.  On the day of the wedding, she will touch up my makeup before the wedding to give it a more darker and dramatic look.

This my before:  (Yes, I am re-using old pictures because I can.  Muahahah)

This is my after for trial #1 (again, I am orange in this pic due to the lighting) – night time makeup.

  • What a weekend!

I was a very busy little bee….uh, butterfly this weekend.

Saturday morning, I went to go exchange the black sweater for Mr. Butterfly.  One of the readers emailed me with tips on dressing for engagement shoots, and after reading, I realized that I didn’t want to coordinate too well.  So the black one has been traded in for the brown one.  Thanks reader!

    j

Then off to Kate’s Paperie to purchase a mini hole puncher and some scrapbook pens.  My mini bells are arriving today, so I am going to test how it looks on the menu card.

I also went to my dress fitting (again).  I can’t help but giggle every time I put on my dress.  Its so pretty.  She had to take in 3 inches from my waist, and she also told me not to lose more than 5 pounds. Otherwise, we will have to do the fitting all over again.

On Sunday, Ms. Snail came over early to do my second trial.  I absolutely loved it!  I promise, pictures are coming!  After my trial, we headed off to my bridal shower where I had a ton of fun.  Thanks to all my girls for coming and making it a great shower!  I promise, a separate post on the shower is coming too, as soon as I upload the pictures.

  • Pearl Mania

My MOH is the bestest friend in the whole wide world!  Not only is she lending me her headpiece from her own wedding, she is lending me her pearl necklace as well!  So of course, I had to go out and buy (fake) pearl earrings to match.  I just cant choose which earrings to wear!

    Here is the head piece.

You can’t really see it in the pictures, but the headpiece is accented with tiny pearls in each diamond shaped area.

    Here is the necklace

  • Dance Shoes

During my dance lesson last week, my instructor told me about a dance shoe store in Manhattan where I could buy bridal shoes.  Now, at first I was a bit skeptical.  I mean, they are dance shoes.  How could they be bridal looking?

Anyway, in my quest to find the perfect shoes, I went to Saks, Macys, Nine West, Enzo, and many many more.  I was just making my way up to Stewart Weitzman when I ran out of time and had to go to my dance class.  It’s a good thing too, because from what I’ve seen on their website, I think the Weitzman shoes are great.  However, I absolutely cannot bring myself to spend $300 on shoes that I will only (probably) wear once.

So I went to the dance shoe store today and fell in love.  The sales people are so friendly and knowledgeable.  Also, they had no problem punching extra holes in my shoe straps just so that I could try them on properly!  Here is the 3 inch heel, off-white, satin dance shoe that I bought.

    shoes1

And can I just say, Woah, these babies are comfortable!!  Especially when you add these paddings to them to the toe area.  They are so cushion-y!!

    shoepads

The best part?  The shoes were only $125, less than half of what I would have paid at Stewart Weitzman.  And they are dyeable, in case I decide to dye them black for later.

Look at some of the other shoes they had!

    shoe1   shoe2
I know they look similiar but the website does not even begin to show you all of the different types of shoes they had.  I almost bought strappy ones in gold, and tried on some beautiful ones in bronze/copper.  I think they would have also looked great with my color scheme. The prices ranged from $50 to $175 dollars, approximately.

I know a lot of people buy shoes on the internet for a lot cheaper, but I am one of those people who must try on a pair of shoes for at least 10 minutes before I can buy them.  And comfort played a big role in my decision to buy these babies.  So, if you are like me (an obsessive shoe shopper) and must try on shoes, and are interested in comfortable shoes for your wedding, I highly recommend this place.

  • Our First Registry Present!!

Last night around midnight, Mr. Butterfly went to go pick up a package from our building while walking the dog.  It was our first registry present!!

Limited lifetime warranty.  Set includes 8″ skillet, 10″ skillet, 1.5-quart covered saucepan, 3-quart covered saucepan, 3.5-quart covered saute pan with helper handle and 8-quart covered stockpot.

Who would get us such a nice, extravagant gift?  Mr. Butterfly’s mom, of course!  The card said something like “Mr. Butterfly and Ms. Butterfly, Congratulations and best of luck in the future!  Love, Mom.”

Mr. Butterfly looked at me and said, “who’s mom is that?”

Whatta dork.   I guess it was more obvious to me because I know that my mom would never order online, she would have written the card in Korean, and she’s already paying for half the wedding, so I wouldn’t have expected a gift from her.

I am also having a ball checking and re-checking my registry to see what items have been bought.  This is so exciting!!  Receiving registry items is definitely the most exciting part of the entire wedding process because I love opening presents!!! It’s like Christmas came early to my house this year!

    God, I’m such a child.
